Hi,
My name is Kelli Stuckey. I live in Savannah Georgia with my husband and 2 year old little girl. I absolutely love buying her smocked clothes and to be honest, very tired of spending a fortune on them. I want to start a line of smocked dresses that can be a little more affordable and fit our area a little better. Can you point me in the right direction of finding a manufacturer to make them?

I'd appreciate any help!
I look forward to hearing from you!

I am considering starting a clothing line of cutome shirts poly/lycra type materials. The shirts will have beading/crystal detailing. How or who would find companies that would do the detailing on the shirts? Me or the sewing contractor? What is the industry name for this type of detail work? I am in the very beginning stages of doing searches for contracting/pattern making and I am still approx 6 months away from getting everythiing in motion. Any help/advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

What a great idea! Thanks for the tip. I've only worked with baby ribbed and interlock fabrics but it would be great to have this a resource.

Cold calling is only a number game. The more contacts you make the better the chance for a sale.

Great blog with very interesting info.

I was very intrigued to have come accross this site. I am a model-maker of soft goods (mostly plush characters) and this was all very helpful for me. It showed in prespective what all my clients go through in shopping for someone like me. It also informed me what I'm doing right, what I can do better and how to better assist my clients. Thanks forthe insight and for sharing your experiences so that I could improve my services.

I feel your pain; I've watched our site numbers go way down too.

I've tried a couple things that didn't help (sales). On facebook.com you can inexpensively put an ad up. I think we had a .00001% click through.

I also tried stumbleupon.com. You will get hits from this; unfortunately our bounce rate was 94% so that's no better either....

Uggh!

We enjoy reading your articles and find them very helpful. We are a new fashion label with luxury hand embellished denim. Just like you, a lot of time and research was spent on branding, product development/designing, marketing and ecommerce etc. We attended numerous small business seminars and read many books on sales. It all comes back to one major factor. THE CUSTOMER.
When we contact customers, money is the farthest thing from our minds. Uphold customers as a higher priority. Show them that they are the most important people.
